Regcef is a cephalosporin antibacterial drug indicated for various infections

Indications of Regcef:
- Regcef is indicated in the treatment of the following infections when caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms: –
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
- Otitis media
- Pharyngitis and tonsillitis
- Acute bronchitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
- Uncomplicated gonorrhea (cervical/urethral)
Dosage and Administration
The recommended dose of Regcef for adults is 400 mg daily, which can be taken as a single dose or divided into two doses
For pediatric patients, the dose is 8 mg/kg/day, which can be administered as a single daily dose or divided into two doses.
Contraindications and Warnings
Regcef is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to cefixime or other cephalosporins.
It’s also important to note that hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been reported with cefixime use
Side Effects
Common side effects of cefixime include gastrointestinal events such as diarrhea, loose or frequent stools,
abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, and flatulence. Other reported side effects include hypersensitivity reactions,
renal dysfunction, and transient elevations in liver enzymes
When not to Use
- Regcef is contraindicated in: Patients with hypersensitivity to any component of this medication
- Patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
