SUCRALATE Overview

Sucralate Oral Suspension is a fast-acting, prescription-strength liquid medication specifically

formulated to treat and prevent active duodenal (intestinal) ulcers.
By acting as a local, protective barrier rather than a systemic antacid,

it provides targeted relief right where your digestive tract needs it most.

How Sucralate Works

Unlike standard antacids that simply neutralize stomach acid,

Sucralate works mechanically. Upon entering the stomach,

the suspension reacts with gastric acid to form a thick, paste-like gel.
This gel selectively binds to the proteins on the surface of an ulcer,

creating a physical “band-aid” over the sore.

This shield protects the damaged tissue from further irritation by stomach acid,

pepsin, and bile salts, allowing the lining to heal naturally.

Key Benefits of Sucralate Suspension

Targeted Protection: Forms a localized barrier directly over ulcers and irritated mucosal linings.
Accelerated Healing: Shields delicate tissue from aggressive gastric juices to promote faster recovery.
Easy-to-Swallow Liquid: The smooth suspension ensures even coating of the esophagus and stomach, making it ideal for patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets.
Minimal Systemic Absorption: Works locally in the GI tract with very little medication absorbed into the bloodstream, reducing the risk of systemic side effects.

Administration:

Shake the bottle well before each dose. Typically taken on an empty stomach (1 hour before meals and at bedtime) or exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Storage: Store at room temperature away from moisture and direct heat. Do not freeze.
